Wraps

A simple and quick recipe that can be made anywhere without the need of a fridge. At times it is very difficult to come up with something to eat and it is those times that I rather have a quick bite then to make a complicated dinner. Combining what I knew from my time living in student housing - well-known for its simple, quick and cheap meals - and my trip to Croatia, a recipe with wraps.

Ingredients
Ketjap manis sauce,
Olive oil,
2 wholegrain wraps,
1 small onion,
Tempeh,
Fresh spinach leafs,
Adjvar sauce, mild (Croatian product)

Preparation time: 10 min
1 serving

Cut the onion in small pieces. Add some ketjap manis and olive oil to a pan with a non-stick coating. Heat it up and add the onion, bake until brown. Meanwhile cut the Tempeh into tiny pieces. Put some of the Croatian sauce on the wrap, sprinkle the onions on top. Now add the Tempeh to the same pan, add some extra olive oil and ketjap. Heat it for 5 minutes or so and stir regularly. Wash the spinach leaves, dry them and place them on top of the onions. When the Tempeh is done add this last ingredient and roll the wrap in anyway you like. Enjoy!

Tips
  • The wraps often come in packages of 6 or more which allows a single person to enjoy this meal 3 times.
  • Some wraps/tortillas/burritos have milk in them, so be sure to check.
  • Normally the wraps are heated but I do not own a pan this big, eating them cold is just as nice.
  • The sauce and the wraps should be stored in the fridge after opening, but in my experience they stay good for another two days if stored in a cold environment (±10 degrees).
  • The Croatian sauce is also delicious as an ingredient in pasta sauce or plainly with some bread.
